A Magical Outing to the Aladdin Pantomime at Corran Halls
Residents from Etive House Care Home in Benderloch recently enjoyed a heartwarming and entertaining trip to Oban’s Corran Halls to watch the much-loved Aladdin pantomime. This festive performance, hosted annually by the talented Taynuilt and North Connel Amateur Theatre group, is a highlight of the Christmas season and brought smiles, laughter, and plenty of cheer to everyone who attended.
The outing saw four of our residents travel to Oban for what turned out to be a truly memorable afternoon. Pantomimes are a treasured tradition for many people, and Aladdin is a timeless favourite filled with adventure, comedy, and larger-than-life characters. The talented cast brought the story to life in spectacular fashion, complete with fab costumes, lively musical numbers, and colourful set design. The pantomime was brimming with fun and laughter, featuring plenty of classic "He's behind you!" moments that had the audience cheering along.
Events like this are about so much more than simply watching a show. For our residents, this outing provided an opportunity to reconnect with the wider community and enjoy the simple pleasure of sharing an experience together. Being able to engage with something familiar, such as a pantomime, helps to boost mental wellbeing and brings comfort and joy. It was a delight to see so many families, children, and members of the local community filling the theatre, and our residents truly enjoyed being part of such a lively and positive atmosphere.
For some of our residents, it was also a chance to rekindle happy memories of similar events from their past. Several residents were thrilled to bump into old friends and neighbours, sparking conversations about past pantomimes and community events they had enjoyed over the years. Events like this are a reminder of how important it is to encourage residents to maintain a link to their community and engage in activities they once enjoyed.
The annual Aladdin pantomime is a testament to the dedication and creativity of the Taynuilt and North Connel Amateur Theatre group, who work tirelessly to bring joy and festive spirit to audiences of all ages. Their enthusiasm, attention to detail, and love for what they do shone through in every scene, from the beautifully choreographed dances to the lively, interactive moments that kept everyone on their toes.
