Active Living with Etive Olympics

The spirit of friendly competition was alive and well at Etive House Care Home as residents recently participated in the inaugural "Etive Olympics!" This fun-filled event, part of the home's ongoing "Move More" initiative, saw residents engaging in a variety of games and activities designed to encourage movement and social interaction.

A Celebration of Movement and Camaraderie

Laughter and cheers echoed through the halls as residents participated in adapted versions of classic Olympic events. From seated basketball to beanbag toss to a lively wheelchair relay race, everyone found a way to join in the fun and showcase their competitive spirit. Winners were proudly awarded medals and prizes, but the true reward was the shared sense of accomplishment and camaraderie.

Promoting Physical and Emotional Well-being

The Etive Olympics was more than just a fun day of activities. It was part of the home's commitment to promoting physical and mental well-being for its residents. "We recognise the importance of staying active, especially as we age," said the Home Manager, a seasoned care professional. "Regular exercise not only improves physical health but also boosts mood, reduces stress, and creates a sense of community. The Etive Olympics was a wonderful way to achieve all these goals in a fun and inclusive way."

Etive House takes its inspiration from the Care Inspectorate's CAPA (Care About Physical Activity) program, seeking innovative ways to engage residents in movement. The "Move More" initiative reflects this commitment, and the Etive Olympics is just one example of the home's dedication to keeping residents active and motivated.
